Benalla Motorcycle Festival

Benalla Motorcycle Festival Incorporated is a non-profit, non-government organisation, consisting of local people who are interested in promoting Benalla and surrounding districts to visitors and locals, by way of a motorcycle-themed event named “Wheel To Wheel”.

Our intention is to operate a festival that celebrates the many facets of motorcycles and their evolution from utilitarian transport to engineering excellence through art, history and popular culture while showing off the beauty of Benalla and inviting community engagement. Our goals are in keeping with Benalla Rural City’s “See the art in everything” philosophy.

We ran a small proof of concept event over one weekend at the beginning of the Benalla Festival in October 2024, this event featured a collection of historic and culturally significant motorcycles, selected for their history, design and uniqueness on loan from private collections in northeast Victoria.

This event was held at the Benalla Rural City Visitor Information Centre and based on visitor feedback surveys and the number of visitors attending was considered a resounding success.

The number and variety of conversations between visitors and volunteers over each of the motorcycles was an amazing experience that added greatly to the “feel good” atmosphere. We can only speculate on how many people were inspired to re-commence stalled restorations.

Future events will feature an exhibition at the core, but we shall be considering activities to increase community engagement in art, motorcycles and Benalla.

The next event will be held in October / November 2025
